Mayo Clinic Sports Residency
Mayo Clinic is recognized as the #1 hospital in the nation, as well as #1 in more specialties than any other hospital, according to U.S. News & World Report Rankings of Top Hospitals. The mission of Mayo Clinic is to inspire hope, and contribute to health and well-being by providing the best care to every patient through integrated clinical practice, education, and research.

The Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy Sports Residency program is a full time 12 month program where residents practice an average 30 hours/week. Residents experience >1500 hours of specialty clinical practice including 200 hours of 1:1 mentored time from highly trained board certified physical therapists. Residents will gain experience in outpatient sports medicine practice on the Mayo Clinic Campus in Rochester, MN and at Mayo Clinic Square in Minneapolis, MN.

The resident will receive didactic and laboratory education modeled after the orthopedic and sports physical therapy description of specialty practice. Other curriculum content and resident directed learning activities will include assisting with teaching lecture/lab in the Mayo School of Health Sciences Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, clinical mentoring of students, physician shadowing, and surgical observation. Residents will collaborate with other physical therapy residents, as well as medical residents and fellows. The requirements for residency completion will include presenting at journal clubs and educational rounds, creating clinical practice guidelines, participation in a research project, and outreach event coverage.
