Mayo Clinic Sports Residency

    The Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy Sports Residency program is a full time 12 month program where residents practice an average 30 hours/week. Residents experience >1500 hours of specialty clinical practice including 200 hours of 1:1 mentored time from highly trained board certified physical therapists. Residents will gain experience in outpatient sports medicine practice on the Mayo Clinic Campus in Rochester, MN and at Mayo Clinic Square in Minneapolis, MN.

    The resident will receive didactic and laboratory education modeled after the orthopedic and sports physical therapy description of specialty practice. Other curriculum content and resident directed learning activities will include assisting with teaching lecture/lab in the Mayo School of Health Sciences Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, clinical mentoring of students, physician shadowing, and surgical observation. Residents will collaborate with other physical therapy residents, as well as medical residents and fellows. The requirements for residency completion will include presenting at journal clubs and educational rounds, creating clinical practice guidelines, participation in a research project, and outreach event coverage.

Courses Must possess ATC or EMT certification or have taken an Emergency Medical Response (EMR) course.
Certifications Licensed in Minnesota or eligible for Minnesota licensure, American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) member, and APTA Orthopaedic and Sports Section member.
