MVP Physical Therapy Sports Residency
    MVP Sports Physical Therapy Residency is a 50-week residency will assist the resident in the preparation for the Sport Certified Specialist (SCS) examination following program completion. This residency program includes the competency areas of rehabilitation/return to sport, management of acute injury/illness, medical/surgical consideration, injury prevention, sports performance enhancement, and professional roles and responsibilities as it relates to sports physical therapy to all athletic individuals throughout the lifespan (youth, adolescent, adult and aging athlete).

    Sport residents are full-time clinicians within MVP Physical Therapy. MVP clinics utilized for the sport residency program is Tukwila/Starfire. Sport residents will complete majority of their required 200 (minimum) hours of sport venue experience through the Seattle Sounders second team. Additional sport venue coverage experience can be arranged within high school and community college sports.

    Program tuition is $9,000. MVP employees (including residents) receive $2,500 as a continuing education benefit to apply towards the program tuition. The remaining cost of program will be deducted each pay cycle throughout the duration of the program ($250/pay cycle). Sport resident salary is approximately 89% to that of a staff PT with equal experience.

    Eligibility requirements to apply for the residency program include graduation from a CAPTE-accreditted PT school, successful completion of the NPTE board examination, obtain a Washington state license by the program start date and active certification as either an athletic trainer, emergency medical responder or emergency medical technician.
