MVP Physical Therapy Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship
    Program Description:
    MVP Manual Therapy Fellowship is a 50-week subspecialty program in manual therapy within the orthopaedic and sports physical therapy practice settings. The fellowship program is designed to provide physical therapists with advanced training in clinical reasoning, advanced movement analysis, examination, and treatment for orthopaedic and sport/athletic patients.

    The clinical and didactic education corresponds with the requirements set forth by AAOMPT and includes: (1) 37 hours/week of unsupervised patient care, (2) 3 hours/week of one-to-one clinical mentoring with an FAAOMPT faculty mentor (3) 273 total hours of clinical instructor interaction (4) 160 hours of laboratory instruction (5) 95 hours of online courses through Medbridge Education (6) 105 hours of independent study reading and (7) 6 hours of online courses through APTA Learning Center.

    Another component of this fellowship program is mentorship training to develop graduates with the ability to train others at a post-professional residency and fellowship level. Curricular items within this category includes (1) completion of the APTA Clinical Instructor Credentialing Program (2) be lead instructor in one extremity-based and one spine-based residency class (3) complete three orthopaedic residency live patient examinations and (4) assist in orthopaedic residency mentoring in the last three months of the fellowship program.

    August 1st - July 31st

    Program Requirements:
    The fellowship program admission team requires that all applicants either complete an ABPTRFE-accredited orthopaedic (or sport) residency program or be board-certified in orthopaedic (OCS) or sport (SCS) physical therapy. Additional admission requirements include (1) holding a valid Washington state physical therapy license before the program start date of August 1st , (2) show proof of APTA Orthopaedic Section active membership to obtain independent study courses and (3) have completed five essay questions.

    Application Process:
    All applicants must submit an application through RF-PTCAS. The fellowship application review team will review all applications and conduct a fellowship program interview either in person or over phone depending on the location of the applicant within 2 weeks of receiving a completed application. Information from the application and interview will be submitted to MVP Physical Therapy's Director of Human Resources where a second interview will be conducted for employment within MVP Physical Therapy.

    Program Admission
    MVP Physical Therapy accepts applications throughout the year. An applicant can be accepted at any time during the year depending on clinic staffing needs and can work as a staff physical therapist until the next program start date.
