Houston Methodist Hospital Critical Care Fellowship
    The Houston Methodist Hospital Critical Care Physical Therapy Fellowship, the first APTA-credentialed fellowship in critical care, is a unique program designed for the experienced acute care clinician who desires to develop advanced skills in the evaluation and treatment of critically ill adult patients. Emphasis is placed on development of clinical decision making in the intensive care unit, weighing risks and benefits for each patient. Fellows in training rotate through each of 5 different ICUs (Surgical & Liver, Medical, Cardiothoracic, Cardiac, and Neurology), learn through classes, guided self-study modules, and grand rounds, spend a minimum of 190 hours of one-on-one mentoring time with highly experienced and accomplished faculty mentors, participate in research activities, and experience numerous observations of critical care surgical, interventional, and testing procedures throughout the program.

Program Prerequisites
Courses Preferred qualification: •Recent completion of continuing education course(s) pertaining to one of the following: acute cardiopulmonary, acute neurological, or critically ill adults
Certifications Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
Experience •Current APTA membership •Minimum of 2 years of experience in direct patient care in an acute care hospital over the most recent past 3 years Preferred qualifications: •At least 1000 hours in the treatment of either: 1)critically ill adults, 2)acute cardiopulmonary or 3)acute neurological adult patients. •Participation in research project(s) or development of best practices involving the treatment of adult acute care patients
