Madison Wisconsin VA Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Residency
    The Cardiovascular and Pulmonary PT Residency program at the VA Hospital in Madison, WI will allow clinicians with any level of professional experience to grow significantly as a Physical Therapist. The residency program is designed to prepare therapists to become specialists in cardiopulmonary physical therapy by providing them with a rich education experience through both academic and clinical experiences in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
    Acceptance to the program is based upon a demonstration of clinical skills and abilities and a passion for a career as a cardiopulmonary therapist. Applicants who are considered for the residency demonstrate the following:
    • A strong clinical and/or academic education background.
    • Exceptional fundamental skills in clinical reasoning/problem solving and the application of examination and treatment strategies for patients requiring cardiovascular or pulmonary physical therapy.
    • Research interest
    • Advanced communication skills (verbal and written)
    Applicants must be US Citizens and fully licensed before the program start date.
    Upon completion of the program, residents will be well-equipped to take the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists exam in Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy.
