The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Neonatology Fellowship
The Harriet and Ronald Lassin Newborn/Infant Intensive Care Unit (N/IICU) at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a 98 bed, state-of-the-art intensive care unit that provides care for critically ill newborns and infants. The N/IICU is a Level IV unit equipped with the latest technology and advances in neonatal medicine, where for more than 50 years, babies with all types of conditions and congenital malformations have received cutting-edge care from a team of nationally-recognized experts.
The mission, goals and objectives of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Physical Therapy Neonatology Fellowship program are focused on developing a clinical specialist who possesses advanced clinical skills with expertise in treating a select population of children: newborns and infants who require intensive care.
As a CHOP PT Neonatology Fellow you will train alongside physician Neonatology Fellows in order to develop an understanding of the medical backgrounds and interventions for these fragile infants. You will participate in bedside rounds, carry a diverse NICU caseload and participate in Neonatal follow up clinic. Your coursework will take you into the literature as well as provide you with informal and interactive didactic sessions provided by the expert staff at CHOP. You will be mentored by neonatal PT’s with extensive clinical experience and a passion for improving the care and follow-up of medically fragile infants. Other opportunities include developing quality improvement projects, participating in research with the mentorship of CHOP research scientists and teaching in the CHOP NICU new-nursing orientation program.
