University of Colorado Pediatric Residency
The University of Colorado Physical Therapy Pediatric Residency Program consists of planned post-professional clinical and didactic education for licensed physical therapists who have graduated from an accredited DPT program. The program is designed to significantly advance preparation of the physical therapist as a highly qualified provider of patient care services in multiple pediatric clinical practice settings. Potential as a future leader in pediatric physical therapy is developed through coursework and experiences during the 13 month Residency Program. In addition to multiple clinical opportunities with structured mentorship, the program also includes participation in the MCHB-funded Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program through JFK Partners (, and access to the resources of the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program on the Anschutz Medical Campus (

Residents spend approximately 12 hours per week on campus in courses, meetings, teaching assistance, and scholarly projects and 28 hours per week in a variety of planned clinical experiences across pediatric settings. Use of a personal vehicle is required for transportation between clinical settings and for early intervention home visits. A Resident who begins the program and is not yet a Colorado resident but wants to receive graduate credit for courses will be required to pay the tuition differential between in and out state costs. Courses are taken regardless of the Resident's status. Applicants MUST be able to possess a Colorado PT license on, or before, July 1 - the start of the Residency program. This licensure requirement is applicable for ALL applicants, including any applicants who are graduating with their DPT degree in the same year for which they are intending to enter the Residency program.
