Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars (MAPS) Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship
The MAPS OMT Fellowship Program's mission is to provide advanced orthopedic manual physical therapy training in the patient-centered Maitland-Australian approach, training clinicians in advanced clinical reasoning and hands-on psychomotor skills guided by the current best evidence. The Program offers a unique combination of direct contact live courses, home-study and online coursework combined with intensive on-site clinical mentorship provided by Orthopedic Manual Therapy expert faculty throughout the U.S., individually tailored to each PT professional's busy lifestyle.

DIRECT CONTACT 1:1 CLINICAL MENTORSHIP: Program is based upon a rigorous classroom curriculum with extensive hands-on labs to prepare Fellows in Training for their intensive clinical mentoring experiences with MAPS Senior Faculty Advisors (SFAs). SFAs are highly trained skilled advanced manual therapy practitioners and Fellows of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists who are passionate clinicians and leaders in the profession.

    PROGRAM DURATION: 12-36 months

MUTLIPLE LOCATIONS: Direct contact week-end courses offered in multiple locations (25+ states) with onsite mentorship available at multiple practice sites around the country (CA, IN, MI, NY, TN, WA, and WI). Additional mentorship sites expected to be added in 2018.

CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES. Each Fellow in Training is required to do an evidence-based clinical research project. Research opportunities range from individual case studies to participation in ongoing world class peer-reviewed research through MAPS or connect with world renowned researchers from the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries, through our International Research Consortium (IRCON).

PROGRAM STRUCTURE: No need to take extensive time away from your home clinic. Courses offered on week-ends or on-line and clinical mentoring can be arranged to best accommodate each Fellow in Training's schedule. STEP 1 of the Program requires Fellows to earn their MAPS Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) and additional coursework prepares Fellowship candidates for their intensive mentorship experiences. Fellows can move at their own pace, taking between 1-3 years to complete and pay for the program.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
    1) A strong fundamental knowledge in the principals of clinical reasoning
    2) Basic or advanced knowledge and/or training in the application of manual therapy examination and interventions
    3) Superior communication skills
    4) Skills in medical research, including data collection, analysis and/or publication, desired, but not required.

Positions are limited; preference given to the most qualified candidates.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Fellows who enter the program as MAPS COMTs have additional opportunities to participate as a lab assistant in MAPS courses previously taken.
